The New Christianity Is One of the Most Exciting Things Happening Right Now
Driverless cars. Vegan meat. Cryptocurrencies. Sustainable fashion. Composting toilets. And the new Christianity.
Yup.
I know it sounds crazy but hear me out.
We have lost something. Something important. I’ve lost it. You’ve lost it. Your family has lost it. Your friends have lost it. Your neighbors have lost it. Your coworkers have lost it.
We have lost relationship.
I could say we’ve lost love, that we’ve lost the sacred, that we’ve lost each other, that we’ve lost ourselves, but I’ll say we lost relationship. For me, relationship includes all those other aspects.
We have lost relationship — true, deep authentic relationship — with each other, nature, and ourselves. It’s gone. I don’t know when we lost it, but it happened sometime after we left our tribes, we left the land, and we left nature. Sometime after we put down the bow and arrow and picked up the iPhone and laptop.
I don’t mean you don’t have relationships. Of course you do. But we’ve lost the depth, the meaning, and the sacredness.
